The Bodhi Tree is a sacred fig tree located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. It is considered one of the most revered sites in Buddhism and marks the location where Siddhartha Gautama – the Buddha – is said to have attained enlightenment around 2600 years ago. The tree you see today is believed to be a descendant of the original Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha meditated. Adjacent to the tree is the magnificent Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts pilgrims from around the world. The site radiates a serene and contemplative atmosphere, inviting visitors to spend time in quiet reflection, prayer, and meditation. The complex also houses several other stupas and statues that depict various phases of Buddha's path to enlightenment. Bodh Gaya itself is a small, peaceful town with a rich cultural heritage that revolves largely around the temple and the Bodhi Tree. The town is well-equipped to cater to the needs of international pilgrims and tourists with accommodation and facilities that respect the sacred nature of the site.

The Bodhi Tree
The tree of awakening where the Buddha became enlightened. Not the original Bodhi tree, but considered a direct descendent and treated with evident reverence by all who attend.
