Ratnagarh is a significant archaeological site located about 2 km southwest of the Mahabodhi Temple in the vicinity of Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. This location is linked with the historical Buddha. It is believed to be the place where Buddha spent a significant amount of time meditating after his enlightenment. The importance of Ratnagarh stems from the several Buddhist texts that associate it with the 'Ajapala Nigrodha Tree' under which the Buddha is said to have answered the questions of the Brahmins during his second week of enlightenment. Over time, Ratnagarh has become a spot of reverence and an integral part of the pilgrimage circuit in Bodh Gaya. Not only does it offer an opportunity to delve into Buddhist history, but it also provides a serene environment reflecting the spiritual aura of Buddhism. The area is scattered with ruins and remnants of ancient structures, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural legacy of Buddhism in India.
