Bushi Dam Tourism
Type of destination: Landmark/Natural Attraction
Ideal visit duration: 2-3 hours
Bushi Dam is a masonry dam located in the Lonavala region of Maharashtra, India, nestled amidst the scenic Sahyadri mountain ranges. Built on the Indrayani River, this dam is a popular spot for tourists for its verdant surroundings, waterfalls, and lush greenery, particularly during the monsoon season when the water levels are high. The overflowing water over the dam's steps creates a cascade effect that is a sight to behold, drawing picnickers and nature enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy sitting on the steps and reveling in the refreshing sprays. The dam area also serves as a great spot for hikes and trekking given the rugged terrains and trails leading to it. However, swimming is prohibited due to strong currents and the depth of the water. Along the path to the dam, small eateries and local vendors can be found selling local snacks and beverages, adding to the overall recreational and laid-back atmosphere of the place.
