Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in the heart of West Bengal, in the district of Jalpaiguri, and is known for its rich flora and fauna. Covering an area of approximately 960 hectares, it is a continuation of the Gorumara National Park. Surrounded by dense forests and the shimmering rivers of Murti and Raidak, this sanctuary is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, gaur (Indian bison), leopards, and several species of deer and birds. The sanctuary provides a serene environment for the animals and is one of the oldest reserves in the state. It gained the status of a wildlife sanctuary in 1998 and has since been a significant conservation area. The forest is mainly composed of Sal and other tropical deciduous trees, providing natural habitat to its inhabitants.
