Food History of Chotila Temple, Gujarat, India

The Chotila Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Chamunda, is situated on the Chotila hill in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat and is a significant site of pilgrimage. The food culture around Chotila Temple, like much of Gujarat, is deeply influenced by both tradition and religion, favoring vegetarian cuisine due to predominant Hindu and Jain beliefs that emphasize non-violence and vegetarianism.

Historically, temple food or "Prasad" is an essential aspect of the religious experience in Chotila. The Prasad is typically vegetarian and is considered sacred since it is offered to the deity before being distributed to the devotees.
