Gir National Park, located in the Sasan Gir region of Gujarat, India, is recognized as one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species. Spanning an area of 1,412 square kilometers, it is renowned for being the only habitat of the Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica) and supports a diversity of flora and fauna, including leopards, antelopes, vultures, and pythons. The topography varies from rugged hills to rivers, which provide water sources for the wildlife. The vegetation is dry deciduous type, with a significant presence of teak trees, interspersed with grassland areas. The Kamaleshwar Dam within the park is home to a large number of crocodiles.
