Best Time To Visit Ha Long Bay (Vietnam) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

The ideal time to visit Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in northern Vietnam, is during the fall (September to November) and spring (March to May) when the weather is most favorable. During these months, you can expect temperate climates, clear skies, and gentle breezes—perfect conditions to explore the bay's emerald waters and numerous limestone islands. The fall season is particularly delightful as the humidity levels drop and the chances of rainfall are minimal, which means you can enjoy outdoor activities, such as cruising, kayaking, and exploring the caves and grottoes, under the best possible conditions. Additionally, the autumn waters are often calm, allowing for smooth sailing and better visibility for underwater activities.

Springtime in Ha Long Bay offers a different kind of charm with mild temperatures and an abundance of sunshine. This season is characterized by the lush greenery of the surrounding landscapes coming to life after the winter months, and the water in the bay remains calm and clear for various water-based excursions. Visitors traveling during this time also have the added benefit of avoiding the peak tourist season, which typically occurs in the summer months when the area becomes crowded and the weather turns hot and humid with higher chances of summer storms. Choosing to visit Ha Long Bay in either the fall or spring ensures an enjoyable experience, taking advantage of the pleasant weather while avoiding the extreme conditions and heavy tourist traffic of the summer high season.
