Hamirsar Lake is a man-made lake located in the heart of Bhuj, in the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. This historic lake, believed to be constructed during the reign of Rao Hamir, around 450 years ago, has been a central source of water for the city. Spread across 28 acres, the lake is surrounded by beautiful gardens, temples, and palaces, like the Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal, which enhance its aesthetic beauty. The lake underwent rejuvenation and was refilled in 2003 after the devastating earthquake in 2001 that struck the region. Besides its role as a water reservoir, it serves as a recreational space for locals and tourists. The tranquil environment makes it ideal for picnics, casual strolls, and boat rides. The promenade around the lake is adorned with Neem and Tamarind trees and buzzes with activity, especially during the evening when residents converge to enjoy the cool breeze and sunset views.

Big Lake with walkways

In the middle of Bhuj city with good drive ways and walkways. Nice garden and eateries around. Nice for spending the evening

Hamirsar Lake in the middle of the city. I found it dirty during my visit. Lake size is huge but no proper maintenance or user friendly facility can be found here.
