Jageshwar, located in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, India, is a small town famous for its cluster of Hindu temples dating back to the medieval age. Nestled in the lap of the Kumaon Himalayas, this sacred town is situated at an elevation of 1,870 meters and is surrounded by thick deodar forests. The Jageshwar temple complex comprises around 124 temples and hundreds of statues, dedicated to Lord Shiva and other deities, reflecting the artistry of ancient North Indian temple architecture. The oldest shrine is believed to be from the 8th century AD, making the site of significant historical importance. Researchers and pilgrims are drawn by both the spirituality and the ancientness of the place. The temples are in the Jataganga river valley near the town.
