The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, located in Bangalore (Bengaluru), Karnataka, India, is one of the city's key scientific institutions. Founded in 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation, the planetarium is managed by the Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE). It aims to foster an interest in astronomy, physics, and space science. With its dome spanning a diameter of about 15 meters, the planetarium provides an immersive experience for its audiences. The Sky Theater inside uses a high-tech projector to simulate the night sky. Regular shows are conducted, explaining complex celestial phenomena in an engaging manner. Apart from the Sky Theater shows, the Planetarium is engaged in science popularization and non-formal science education. A Science Park and the Idea Space outside the planetarium give visitors a hands-on science experience. The planetarium also houses an exhibition space that showcases science experiments and a mini-planetarium that provides a platform for serious amateur astronomers.
