Bull Temple, also known as Dodda Basavana Gudi, is situated in Basavanagudi, a bustling locality of Southern Bengaluru. The temple is renowned for its massive monolithic bull statue, which is dedicated to Nandi, the vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, Nandi holds great significance as the gate-guardian deity of Kailasha, the abode of Shiva. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is a marvelous structure carved out of a single granite rock. The Nandi statue stands at 15 feet in height and 20 feet in length, making it one of the largest Nandi idols in the world. The temple dates back to the 16th century and was built by Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bengaluru. The Bull Temple also features a small Lingam shrine and is surrounded by lush gardens and parks. The temple's architecture and atmosphere reflect a tranquil and spiritual environment, attracting thousands of devotees and tourists yearly. It plays a significant role in the cultural and religious fabric of the city.

Good to visit, can't spend more than 1 hour. You can explore with family once in a while. Hardly 18 km from Marathahalli.😊

Wrong open time mentioned in Tripadvisor. 7:30am is correct open time. Good experience overall.
Official open timing is 7:30am. We had to wait for an hour because doors opened at 7:30 and not 6:30am as mentioned in here.
