Kamalgad Fort, also known as Kattalgad or Bhelanja, is a square-shaped plateau fortification located near Wai in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India. The fort stands at a height of approximately 4,500 feet above sea level. Unlike many other forts in the Sahyadri range, Kamalgad does not have much in terms of massive gateways or defensive structures, as the natural walls of the hills serve as its fortifications. The fort's summit is a flat area strewn with boulders and devoid of vegetation, which gives a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, including the Dhom Dam below. Historically, the fort dates back to the 16th century and was under the control of the Marathas until it was captured by the British in the early 19th century. The fort is currently in ruins, but it still attracts trekkers who want to explore its history and enjoy the scenic landscapes it offers.
