Best Time To Visit Karli Backwaters (Tarkarli) In 2026 - 2027

The Karli Backwaters, nestled near Tarkarli in Maharashtra, India, offer a serene escape with a magnificent blend of coastal beauty and boat rides through the calm backwaters. If you're planning a trip, the best time to visit is between October and March. During these months, the weather is pleasantly cool and perfect for outdoor activities. The monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, should generally be avoided due to heavy rainfall and potential flooding, which may hinder backwater explorations and boat tours.

For the optimal experience, visiting during winter months (November through February) is highly recommended. During this time, the temperature ranges from 17°C to 30°C, which is ideal for sightseeing, sunbathing on Tarkarli beach, snorkeling in the clear waters, and enjoying the well-known houseboat tours. Additionally, the festive season adds a vibrant charm to the place with local festivals such as Diwali and Makar Sankranti, which might provide a unique cultural glimpse into the traditions of Maharashtra.
