Lataguri is a small town situated on the outskirts of the Gorumara National Park in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. The best time to visit Lataguri largely depends on what you are looking to get out of your visit. However, October to March is considered the ideal period. During these months, the weather is relatively cool and pleasant, making it perfect for jungle safaris and wildlife sighting. The temperature ranges from about 10°C to 21°C, which is comfortable for outdoor activities. This is also the peak season when the Gorumara National Park is fully operational, providing ample opportunity to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the region.
April and May can also be a good time for those who are interested in observing the region's lush vegetation and the weather, although warmer, is still bearable with temperatures hovering around 25°C to 30°C. However, the monsoon season, from June to September, is generally advised against for tourists due to heavy rainfall which may lead to restrictions in safari timings and difficulty in transportation. During these months, the forest is also prone to flooding, and many of the zones in Gorumara National Park might be closed for visitors. For bird watchers, the winter months offer an added attraction as migratory birds visit the region, making it a birding paradise.
