Best Time To Visit Lombok (Mataram) (Indonesia) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Lombok (Mataram), Indonesia

One of the most ideal times to visit Lombok, which includes the city of Mataram, the capital of West Nusa Tenggara province, is during the dry season which runs from May to September. During these months, the weather is predominantly dry and sunny making it perfect for a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking Mount Rinjani, lounging on the pristine beaches like Senggigi or exploring the Gili Islands. The dry season also coincides with the peak tourist season, so while the conditions are excellent for holiday-making, be prepared for busier locales and potentially higher prices for accommodations and activities.

If you prefer fewer crowds and don't mind the occasional rain shower, consider visiting during the shoulder months of April and October. These months offer a balance between the wet and dry seasons, with the chance of rainfall dropping significantly, yet the tourist numbers have not reached their peak. Temperatures during these periods remain warm, usually around 25°C to 31°C (77°F to 88°F), allowing for a pleasant travel experience without the intensity of peak season. The natural scenery is lush and vibrant, and cultural festivals occurring during these months can provide deeper insight into the local traditions of Lombok.
