Mandar Hill is a small mountain situated in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. It rises to a height of about 700 feet, forming a solitary peak in the otherwise level area. The hill is of great mythological significance as it is believed to have been used by the gods to churn the ocean, 'Samudra Manthan' in Hindu mythology, to extract the nectar of immortality. This place is dotted with various temples and is a hotspot for both tourism and pilgrimage. One of the most notable shrines here is the Mandar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Historically, Mandar Hill is associated with Jainism too and has a number of Jain sculptures dating back to the medieval period. Aside from its religious importance, the area offers panoramic views of the lush green surroundings, making it a serene place for nature lovers.
