Mukteshwar Dham, located in the Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand, India, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The town of Mukteshwar gets its name from this 350-year-old temple infamous for its legend that Lord Shiva granted immortality or 'Mukti' to a demon here. This quaint destination is perched at an elevation of about 2,286 meters above sea level and offers panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas, including India's second-highest peak, Nanda Devi. The temple complex is adorned with a white marble Shiva Linga and idols of other deities. The serene environment coupled with the chirping of birds and the scent of deodar forests enriches the spiritual ambiance. Visitors often partake in meditation and local rituals, seeking blessings and peace. Apart from the religious significance, Mukteshwar is also known for its picturesque landscapes, lush orchards, and opportunities for adventure sports like rock climbing and rappelling.

A temple situated on a hill, 250mtrs climb is heavy, weather was pleasant so it took 25min to reach the temple. For first timers, visit Shakti peeth & proceed to Mahadev temple. Beware of monkeys
