Pandava Caves are ancient and historical caves located in the scenic hill station of Pachmarhi, in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, India. These caves are carved out of a low hillock and are believed to have been a shelter for the Pandavas during their exile period as described in the epic Mahabharata. The caves are a group of five rock-cut temples, which is why they are associated with the five Pandava brothers. The architecture of these caves is simple and bereft of any elaborate carvings, which implies their antiquity and connection to early Buddhist monks who are said to have built these caves for meditation and shelter. This becomes evident from the Buddhist-style benches and chambers within the caves. Today, these caves have become a popular tourist attraction due to their mythological significance and their tranquil and serene surroundings. The caves overlook lush greenery and offer a panoramic view of the surrounding area, providing an enchanting backdrop for visitors.
