Bandhavgarh National Park is a renowned wildlife sanctuary located in the Vindhya Hills of the Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh, India. Covering an area of approximately 105 square kilometers, the park is famed for having the highest density of Bengal tigers in the world, making it a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Beyond the Bengal tiger, Bandhavgarh is home to diverse fauna, including leopards, Indian bison, sambar, and various species of deer and birds. The park's landscape features tropical forests, grassy meadowlands, and steep rocky hills with flat plateaus, which are known as ‘table-tops’. Bandhavgarh's historical significance is highlighted by the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort, perched atop a plateau and believed to be around 2,000 years old. The fort's precincts are replete with man-made caves featuring inscriptions and drawings. Moreover, several man-made watering holes exist throughout the park, ensuring the prosperity of the diverse ecosystem. The park has been divided into several zones to manage tourism and to protect natural habitats, with Tala zone being the most renowned for tiger sightings.
