Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India, is a haven of natural beauty and a stronghold of biodiversity covering over 940 sq km. Renowned as one of the best managed National Parks in Asia, Kanha's landscape features sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines. The lush vegetation and bamboo thickets are home to a vast variety of wildlife. It became a National Park in 1955 and later was recognized as a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 1974. Kanha's rich flora and fauna include species like the Royal Bengal Tiger, Indian leopards, sloth bears, barasingha or swamp deer, and over 300 species of birds. The park is also immortalized by Rudyard Kipling, as it inspired the famous 'The Jungle Book'. Visitors can experience nature through safari tours where spotting tigers, especially is a cherished moment. The park’s conservation efforts are evident in the successful preservation of the rare hard-ground barasingha from near extinction. Eco-tourism is promoted to support the local communities while creating awareness of wildlife conservation.
