Best Time To Visit Petra (Jordan) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Petra, Jordan

Visiting Petra, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, can be an unforgettable experience, and timing your visit right is crucial. The best time to visit Petra is typically during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. During these periods, the weather is generally pleasant, with moderate temperatures that are ideal for exploring the ancient site. In spring, the landscape around Petra blooms with wildflowers, adding to the scenic beauty of the desert. Spring also tends to be less crowded compared to the peak tourist seasons, offering a more peaceful visit.

In the autumn, after the heat of the summer has subsided, visitors can enjoy the comfortable temperatures and clear skies that are perfect for photography. The light in early morning and late afternoon during these months is particularly magical, as the sun casts dramatic shadows and illuminates the rose-red stones. However, it's important to note that the site can be busier during the weeks of major holidays or festivals. To optimize your experience, aim to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the bulk of the crowds and the midday heat, which can still be quite intense, even in the shoulder seasons.
