Poomala Dam is a quaint reservoir located in the Thrissur District of Kerala, India. Built for irrigation purposes, it is a minor irrigation project situated in the village of Mulankunnathukavu, about 12 kilometers away from the city of Thrissur. The dam stands amid the scenic beauty of Poomala hills and has recently become a popular spot for sightseeing and ecotourism. This beautiful locale is surrounded by lush greenery and offers an idyllic setting for nature lovers and those seeking solace away from urban bustle. The area has been developed by the Irrigation Department for tourists, and now includes a garden and other recreational facilities. There is a sizeable catchment area that provides ample opportunity for boating and fishing, although these activities may be subject to regulations to preserve the environment. The calm waters and serene environment attract a number of migratory birds, making it a decent spot for bird watching. The dam also contributes fundamentally to the local communities by providing water for irrigation, ensuring the cultivation of the land around the dam.

Just okay place
Not much explored place. Have very few shops there. They provide a boating facility through the reservoir for a very affordable rate in a safe way. Nothing much to see other than that.
