Ramnagar Fort is situated near the Ganges River on its eastern bank, opposite to the Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Built by Maharaja Balwant Singh in the 18th century, it is the ancestral home of the Maharaja of Banaras. The fort exhibits a mix of Indian and Islamic styles of architecture and is constructed mainly of red sandstone. Containing a museum within its grounds, the fort showcases an eclectic collection of royal palaces, vintage cars, medieval costumes, armory, and an astronomical clock. Despite its magnificence, parts of the fort are in a dilapidated condition owing to the neglect. It also hosts the annual Dussehra festival, which is a significant cultural event in Varanasi attracting many visitors.
