The Reversing Station located in Khandala is one of the intriguing remnants of the engineering feats of the British era in India. Nestled at a vantage point high in the Western Ghats, the site was used as a railway reversing station essential for the trains navigating the steep gradients as they transported passengers from Mumbai to Pune and vice versa. The station played a pivotal role during the time steam locomotives were in use. The infrastructure now lies in disuse but continues to be a point of interest for history enthusiasts and tourists alike. Although not operational, the ruins of the Reversing Station offer breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding lush green valleys and waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season. The place is a testimony to the blend of historical significance and natural beauty. A visit to the Reversing Station is not just a step into a historical relic but also a retreat into nature's lap, making it a popular spot for photography and sightseeing.
