The fort is made up of two twin fortresses: Shrivardhan and Manaranjan, strategically positioned to overlook the Borghat pass—a historical trade route. Rajmachi can be reached by a trek starting from the Tungarli Lake in Lonavala or the base village of Udhewadi, which is a more direct approach from the Kondivade village near Karjat. The ancient fort is a popular destination for hiking, trekking, and weekend excursions, offering panoramic views of the lush greenery and the undulating landscape of the Western Ghats. The trek to Rajmachi Fort passes through dense forests and waterfalls, especially invigorating during the monsoon when nature is at its peak splendor. The fort complex includes a couple of temples, large gateways, water reservoirs, and residential units that date back to the 17th century.
