Visapur Fort is an awe-inspiring hill fortress situated near Visapur village in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. Balancing on an elevation of 1,084 meters above sea level, it is a part of the Lohagad-Visapur fortification and is attached to the neighboring Lohagad Fort by a small range. Constructed by the first Peshwa of the Maratha Empire, Balaji Vishwanath from 1713-1720, Visapur Fort has a richer and slightly newer history than its twin fort, Lohagad. Its strategic positioning gave it completeness and superior defense capabilities. The fort has witnessed many battles, notably between the Marathas and the British during the early 19th century where the latter bombarded and destroyed much of the fort's structures. Featuring ancient carvings, water cisterns, caves, and a large plateau at its crest, the fort is now a favored destination for hikers, photographers, and history enthusiasts. Its verdant surroundings come alive during the monsoon, making the trek a bit challenging but incredibly beautiful with lush greenery and cascading waterfalls.

Twin fort of Lohagadh
It's a fun trek which one can do on their own. Get down at Malavli local station or take an auto from Lonavala station.
