Traveling to the Roman Forum in Rome, Italy

The Roman Forum, located in the heart of ancient Rome, is accessible through a variety of transportation methods.

By Air

If you are coming from outside Italy, the closest airport to the Roman Forum is Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Fiumicino), which is about 30 km from the city center. From there, you can:

  • Take the Leonardo Express train to Termini Station, running every 15 minutes.
  • Opt for a taxi or a private car service directly to your destination.
  • Use the regional FL1 trains that connect to other major train stations in Rome, such as Ostiense or Tiburtina.

By Train

The main rail station in Rome is Termini Station. From there, you can reach the Roman Forum by:

  • Taking the B line of the metro towards Laurentina, and stepping off at Colosseo.
  • Catching a bus that stops near the area of the Roman Forum.

By Bus

Several bus lines run close to the Roman Forum. Some of the lines that you can take include:

  • Routes 75, 85, 87, 118, and 810 stop near the Forum area.
  • Route 51 stops at Fori Imperiali.
  • Direct access via the Archeobus, which is a tourist bus that goes to all major archaeological sites.

By Metro

The Roman Forum is most easily reached by the B line (Blue line) of Rome's metro system:

  • Get off at the Colosseo station, the Roman Forum is just a short walk away.

By Car

It is not recommended to travel to the Roman Forum by car due to heavy traffic and limited parking areas. However, if you must travel by car, secure a parking space in advance in one of the nearby parking lots and be prepared to walk.

On Foot

If you are staying in central Rome, the Roman Forum is easily accessible by foot, and you will have the chance to admire the city's countless attractions along the way. Look for signs pointing towards "Foro Romano".
