The city of Gyumri, with its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, is a charming destination for travelers. When planning a visit to Sev Berd, or the Black Fortress, timing is crucial to enhance your experience. The best period to explore this historical fortress is during the late spring to early autumn months, specifically from May through October. During this time, the weather in Gyumri is pleasantly warm, making it ideal for touring the outdoor site. The temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), which allows visitors to spend ample time walking around the fortress grounds and delving into its past without the discomfort of extreme heat or cold. Summer is the peak tourist season, with July and August drawing the most visitors, which can be both a pro and a con. While these months ensure the warmest weather and a plethora of cultural events and festivals, the site might also be more crowded. These months offer a balance between the enjoyable weather and a reduction in tourist crowds, giving you more space to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Sev Berd.
