Silent Valley National Park, situated in the Kundali Hills of the Western Ghats in Kerala, India, is an ecological haven, preserving one of the last tracts of undisturbed tropical evergreen rainforest in India. Spanning over an area of about 237.52 square kilometers, it's renowned for its extensive variety of flora and fauna. Designated as a national park in 1984, this region is famously known for the conservation of the lion-tailed macaque, a highly endangered species of primate. The park's biodiversity is profound, with over a thousand species of flowering plants, numerous species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and even more of birds and insects. The core of the national park is a strictly protected zone, allowing for minimal human interference, which has facilitated the preservation of the forests in their pristine form. Silent Valley is fed by the Kunthipuzha River, which runs through the dense forest, contributing to the flourishing biodiversity of the region.
