The Kalpathy Heritage Village, also known as Kalpathy Agraharam, is a traditional Tamil Brahmin settlement located in Palakkad, Kerala. Established around 1425 AD, it is one of the oldest settlements of Tamil Brahmins in Kerala. The village is renowned for its unique architecture, with rows of old traditional houses that exhibit distinct vernacular styles, and its streets that capture the cultural essence of Tamil Brahmin culture. At the heart of the village lies the ancient Kalpathy Vishwanatha Swamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is a classic example of Tamil architectural design and religious heritage. The temple complex is a significant center of Vedic learning and the site of many cultural festivals, including the famous annual Chariot Festival (Ratholsavam) that draws thousands of visitors and devotees. The entire village has been recognized by the Indian government as a heritage site, owing to its cultural significance and well-preserved traditional milieu.
