Thimmamma Marrimanu is a banyan tree located in the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is renowned for its expansive canopy, which is said to be the world's largest. The name 'Thimmamma Marrimanu' translates to 'Thimmamma's Banyan Tree' and is associated with a local legend. According to the story, Thimmamma was a woman who committed sati (self-immolation) on her husband's funeral pyre in 1433. A banyan tree grew at the spot of her death, which has stretched out over the years to cover an area of around 5 acres. Local belief holds that couples unable to have children are blessed after visiting this tree. The area surrounding the tree has been developed into a sort of park with a temple dedicated to Thimmamma. The vast canopy of the tree forms a natural shelter and is a haven for a diverse range of birds and smaller wildlife. This incredible natural wonder is a testament to the banyan's capacity for longevity and growth, and it offers a unique and tranquil experience for visitors.

No proper vantage point
We went to check out this large banyan tree but were disappointed with the lack of any vantage point to witness its total spread. The temple in the middle of it is the only place you can visit and it ..
