Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani Lake, is a man-made reservoir located in the hills 15 km north of Shillong in the state of Meghalaya, India. It was created by damming the Umiam River in the early 1960s. The lake serves as a major tourist attraction for the region as well as a source of water for drinking and irrigation. Spreading over an area of 220 square km, the expansive waterscape is set against the backdrop of lush green East Khasi Hills, making for a picturesque view. Peaceful environment

Umiam lake.
This is a man made lake around 10km from city of Shillong. The view from top is excellent. There are provisions for boating and watersports.

Very nice place to relax and speed boat
Beautiful lake, lovely experience. It is on the way from Guwahati to Shillong. The color of the water is greenish blue.
