Ward's Lake Tourism

Ward's Lake is a pristine artificial body of water located at the heart of Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, India. Surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful flowerbeds, the lake is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Its cobble-stoned walkways and an ornate wooden bridge exude a vintage charm that takes visitors back in time. The lake, also known as Pollock's Lake, was named after Sir William Ward, the then Chief Commissioner of Assam. It was established under the initiative of Col. Hopkins during the British rule in India. One of the highlights of Ward's Lake is its boating facilities that allow visitors to peacefully sail across the serene waters while enjoying the picturesque views of the forested hills. The lake has a lovely garden and offers a tranquil retreat from the bustling city life. Feeding the colorful fishes, walking along the winding paths, and exploring the lake's small isles are some of the activities people enjoy here. The adjacent garden area is equipped with fountains, a cafeteria, and ample seating arrangement, making it a perfect family picnic spot.
