Vishansar Lake is a pristine alpine water body located in the Kashmir Valley, specifically in the Kishansar Valley within the Indian union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. It is part of the famous Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, which is known for its breathtaking scenery encompassing lush meadows, rugged terrains, and vibrant wildflowers. The lake lies at an altitude of approximately 3,710 meters above sea level and is surrounded by snow-clad mountains, making it a magnificent sight to behold. The lake is the habitat for many types of fish, including the brown trout. This high-altitude lake freezes during the winter and is only accessible during the summer season. The beauty of Vishansar Lake lies in its tranquil waters, which reflect the surrounding peaks and the sky. It takes its name from Lord Vishnu and is held in high regard for its spiritual significance. Trekkers and nature enthusiasts seeking solitude and a connection with nature often visit the lake. The area around Vishansar Lake is also a camping site for hikers on the multi-day trek through the region.
