Baltal Valley Tourism

Baltal Valley is a picturesque mountainous valley situated in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It serves as a camping ground for pilgrims en route to the sacred Amarnath Cave, where an ice stalagmite forms a natural Shiva Linga, a representation of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva. The valley is positioned on the banks of the Sindh river and lies at a distance of about 15 kilometers from the holy cave. It is a lush, grassy area at an altitude of approximately 2,743 meters above sea level, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and coniferous forests. Baltal provides an alternate short route to the Amarnath cave, which is just a day's trek away, making it a preferred base camp over the traditional route from Pahalgam. The raw natural beauty and the proximity to the Himalayas make Baltal Valley a captivating location for trekkers and spirituality seekers alike. It is also known for its tented accommodations and temporary facilities set up during the annual pilgrimage season.
