Best Time To Visit Alleppey (Alappuzha) (Kerala) In 2026 - 2027

Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha, is situated in Kerala, a state on the southwestern coast of India, and is renowned for its serene backwaters, sprawling paddy fields, and tranquil canals. The best time to visit Alleppey is during the winter months from November to February. During this period, the weather remains pleasant and cool, with temperatures typically ranging between 17°C to 32°C. The mild climate is perfect for backwater cruising, exploring the town, and engaging in outdoor activities. Additionally, the winter season also coincides with a number of cultural festivals and events, which provide tourists with an opportunity to experience the local culture and festivities.

Another favorable time to visit is during the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September. This period is known for the famous snake boat races, including the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, which is held on the second Saturday of August annually. Although the monsoon brings heavy rainfall, it also rejuvenates the landscape, making the backwaters and the surrounding region lush and vibrant. During this time, the region is less crowded, and visitors can enjoy the beauty of the rain-drenched countryside at leisure. However, it's important to note that some backwater cruises may be limited during this time due to safety concerns. Overall, for the best balance of good weather and availability of activities, the winter season is the most recommended time to plan your Alleppey visit.
