Aruvikkara Dam is a scenic dam located in the state of Kerala, near the city of Thiruvananthapuram. It is built on the Karamana River and supplies drinking water to the city. This picturesque location is a favorite among tourists for picnics and sightseeing. Surrounded by lush greenery and forested hills, the dam site presents a tranquil and refreshing atmosphere. Its beauty is further accentuated by the presence of a small stream that flows near the dam, which adds to the serene environment. The Aruvikkara Dam also holds religious significance as it is home to a temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, a deity revered by the local people. Visitors often stop by the temple to offer their prayers. Alongside the religious aspect, the area is also home to a variety of fish, and tourists can enjoy watching these aquatic creatures from the bridge overlooking the river. The dam's infrastructure supports the maintenance of the water reservoir and the power house, emphasizing its importance both as a tourism spot and a functional utility.
