Kerala Art and Craft Village, Kovalam
The Kerala Art and Craft Village is a destination offering diverse experiences beyond traditional arts and crafts. Dedicate at least four hours to the visit, allowing comprehensive exploration of the numerous craft studios. The architectural design of each studio emphasizes functionality. A conveniently situated restaurant within the village facilitates a practical dining experience. There is a sunset viewpoint located behind the village, accessible to vehicles. The village displays a variety of crafts from Kerala and other states at reasonable rates. The shops feature handicrafts made from materials such as wood, paper quills, clay, coconut husk, terracotta, thread, jute, dry flowers, glass arts, paintings, ivory, and bronze. Beyond crafts, the village includes a children's park (though some walking is required), a sunset point, and a restaurant. Photography is permitted, subject to additional charges. Entry fees are INR 100 for adults, INR 250 for carrying cameras, and INR 50 for children. The operating hours are from 10 AM to 7 PM, but an earlier visit is recommended to cover attractions within approximately four hours. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the village actively promotes Kerala handicrafts and its community. The village includes ample car parking, open stages, and an auditorium. The meticulously maintained lawns and gardens contribute to the overall beauty. For architecture and design students, this destination offers insights into connections, circulation, transitional spaces, and the impact of landscapes on architecture. Consult the event calendar for cultural events and performances. There will be concerts on alternate Sundays. The Kerala Art and Craft Village distinguishes itself through its practical offerings and well-maintained infrastructure.

A cullinary experience worthy of mention
An authentic and amazing experience. The richness and historical heritage on display was inspiring. Most memorable was our meeting with chef Biju and his very together team. The beef fry and Parottas was flavorful and perfect. The vegetable tali with its variety and gobsmacking good taste satisfied our taste buds. This together with the sharing of recipes made our visit unforgettable.. Congratulations to chef Biju who together with his team and sharing nature makes Kerala Arts a must visit place

An Amazing Afternoon Soaking in Food, Art and Crafts of Kerala
We visited the Kerala Arts and Craft Village, Kovalam on October 3, 2023, along with family. It was an unexpectedly amazing experience, as we had not anticipated the scale of the property or the depth of the focus by the government on showcasing the arts and craft of Kerala. We started off with an absolutely sumptuous Kerala traditional 'sadya' meal - a feast for our senses- about 18+ dishes served on a banana leaf. Chef Biju showcased his culinary skills through the taste of his dishes and his hospitality by visiting our table and personally serving us! Amal Balakrishnan and his team provided us wonderful service - all with a smile - during our meal at the restaurant. We then decided to walk off our lovely meal, and as it was raining, we turned towards the arts and craft section rather than the sprawling gardens and hiking trails leading to scenic view points - a decision we don't regret at all. We were floored by the number of individual spaces for artists of each type of art and handicraft - from wood sculpture to handloom weaving, coconut shell art, traditional kerala temple murals, ceramic and pottery works, nettipattam (adorning the foreheads of elephants during festivals).. and the list goes on. Each of us focused on what caught our eye and we ended up with bags of shopping and wonderful memories of Kerala to take back home! The place is beautiful, very well maintained, clean and with wonderful staff. It should definitely be part of the itinerary for your next Trivandrum visit - not just for the handicrafts and gardens but also for the fabulous food by Chef Biju!

Great experience of the arts and crafts in Kerala
This centre was a real eye opener for me, since there was no advertising of this Center in mainstream media. Got to know of the place through chef Biju who told us about the 28 studios which have different artisans working on some of the magnificent works I have encountered so far in my life. I visited this Center along with my two kids from Perth , Australia and both my kids were enthralled by the intricate art forms we have in Kerala. The whole ambience of the Center is very welcoming and the all the artisans take their time to explain their art forms. Hats of to the management and special shout out to Chef Biju. Manoj (Perth)
