Beautiful place, lots to do and see
A calm, scenic place, with a beautiful dam – a view that’s especially inviting for a camera if the skies are clear and the dam shutters are open. Once in, there is quite a bit to do here. We went for a boating – just the 5 of us in a boat meant for more folks – with stops at the Deer Park and the Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre. The Lion Safari was not open at that point since a few of the lionesses were undergoing medical support. The view from the watch tower is absolutely breath-taking if you're game to climb up all those stairs. A lovely half- to full-day trip from Thiruvananthapuram city. You can have your meals at the KTDC Tamarind. The view of the river and the ghats behind is awesome from the restaurant. The drawback is that the restaurant is behind all their ground floor rooms, by the bathrooms – which means if the bathrooms are occupied, the food experience will be a disaster :P Thankfully, none of those rooms were occupied while we were there for lunch.

Not much Exciting..
I have visited with my family. It was not properly kept with proper sign boards. I could not find anything nice rather than an open tunnel where the water goes out from the Dam

Nice views - Sad Animals
Avoidable, the boat ride was nice and calming, but you would need to use used life jackets. We sanitized and used them. They could just promote this place a nice quiet boating destination. The animal "SAFARI" is a joke and pathetic. Amazing how govt agencies can get away with such facilities.

Good place
We visited during weekday and it was drizzling. So, it was less crowded and a beauty to watch the nature. Boat ride is a must. Not guaranteed that you will spot wild animals in the island forest. Very good spot for a day trip.

Dam to enjoy
Neyyar Dam is a good nature friendly dam to take your children along with.The scenery is great and even elderly people can also enjoy a lot.There a boating and crocodile park to enjoy ur day. There is watch tower to enjoy the Ariel view of Neyyar.You can walk on the dam and click as many photos you wish to.
