Neyyar Dam is a gravity dam on the Neyyar River in Kovalam, situated in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India. Established in 1958, the dam was built for irrigation and drinking water purposes, and it has become a popular tourist destination over the years. Spanning an area of 9.06 square km, the dam's reservoir caters to an irrigation area of about 116.65 square km. Surrounded by the Western Ghats, it is a part of the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a haven for a wide range of flora and fauna including Asian elephants, leopards, and Slender loris. Other attractions include a crocodile rehabilitation and research center, a lion safari park, and a boating facility. The picturesque landscape makes it an ideal spot for picnics and hikes, with the Agasthyakoodam Peak in the backdrop, one of the highest peaks in South India and a trekkers' paradise. The scenic beauty and serene atmosphere of Neyyar Dam make it a sought-after escape from the hustle of city life.

Not much Exciting..
I have visited with my family. It was not properly kept with proper sign boards. I could not find anything nice rather than an open tunnel where the water goes out from the Dam

Nice views - Sad Animals
Avoidable, the boat ride was nice and calming, but you would need to use used life jackets. We sanitized and used them.
