Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple is an ancient Hindu temple situated on the banks of the Karamana river in Thiruvallam, near Kovalam in Kerala, India. It is a serene and spiritual place that is believed to be 2000 years old, making it one of the oldest temples in the state of Kerala. Dedicated to Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the temple is a fine example of traditional Kerala temple architecture with wood carvings and murals that depict various stories from the Puranas and epics. The temple has a unique practice where the departed souls are given a Bali, a ritual offering. This temple holds the distinction of being the only temple in Kerala, and perhaps in the world, where devotees can perform rituals for ancestors in the water. It is not just a place of worship but also a place of incredible cultural significance and a bustling hub of pilgrimage activities.
