Best Time To Visit Assi Ghat (Varanasi) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Assi Ghat, Varanasi

Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world, has a timeless appeal, but when it comes to the best time to visit Assi Ghat, the period from October to March is most ideal. During these months, the weather in Varanasi is pleasant and conducive for exploring the city without the discomfort of extreme temperatures. The winter season brings cool and agreeable weather with temperatures ranging between 5°C and 15°C. This climate is perfect for enjoying morning boat rides on the Ganges, attending the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti in the evening, and walking along the ghats. The cool breezes and gentle sun provide an enriching experience to delve into the spiritual and cultural vibes of Assi Ghat.

Furthermore, visiting Assi Ghat around festivals can be incredibly rewarding. Specifically, Dev Deepavali, which occurs in November, transforms Assi Ghat into a magical landscape with thousands of clay lamps illuminating the steps and the river. Another significant time is during Mahashivratri in February or March, when the city celebrates Lord Shiva with great fervor. The monsoon season, roughly from July to September, is less recommended due to the Ganges often overflowing its banks, which may restrict some activities at Assi Ghat. Regardless of when you visit, the Ghat's daily life, spiritual aura, and evening aartis are enduring attractions that can be appreciated year-round.
