Chavadi is a small yet significant historical building located in Shirdi, Maharashtra, India. It holds immense religious importance to the devotees of Sai Baba, as it is closely associated with his life. Chavadi literally means a village office or a rural business center but in the context of Shirdi, it is where Sai Baba used to sleep every alternate night. During his last years, Sai Baba would be taken to Chavadi in a grand procession with his followers. The tradition continues to this day with Chavadi being the venue for the Thursday palanquin procession of Baba's photo, padukas (footwear), and satka (stick). The heritage building is simple with two main rooms. The room on the right is where Baba's used items like his wooden bed, chair, and smoking pipe are preserved. The left room has a big portrait of Sai Baba and a white chair which is regarded with deep respect. Pilgrims visiting Shirdi ensure that they visit Chavadi to pay their respects.
