Located in the heart of Shirdi, Maharashtra, Gurusthan is one of the most revered places in the small town which is best known as the home of the late 19th-century saint, Shri Sai Baba. Gurusthan, literally meaning 'Seat of the Teacher', is believed to be the spot where Sai Baba first appeared to the world as a 16-year-old boy. The place is marked by a neem tree and a shrine where devotees can view a large portrait of Sai Baba seated on a throne. A small collection of his belongings is also preserved here. The sanctuary is considered extremely sacred, and it's said that the neem tree has healing powers. Pilgrims often come to pay their respects and seek blessings.
