Best Time To Visit Chiklihole Dam (Coorg) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Chiklihole Dam, Coorg

The ideal period to visit the serene Chiklihole Dam is between the months of September and March. During this time, the weather in Coorg is particularly favorable, making it conducive for tourists to explore and enjoy the scenic beauty of the location. The post-monsoon season, starting in September until November, sees the landscapes rejuvenated with lush greenery, and the reservoir is often brimful due to the recent rains. This creates a picturesque setting for photographers and nature lovers alike.

As we progress into the winter months of December to February, the climate remains cool and pleasant with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 28°C. This cooler climate is perfect for visitors hoping to engage in outdoor activities such as bird watching, nature walks, or simply relaxing by the water's edge. Additionally, the lower humidity levels during this period ensure a comfortable visit. March, while slightly warmer, still offers a favorable climate before the onset of summer heat and the heavy rainfall of the monsoon season, which usually starts in June and persists until August, making accessibility to the dam more challenging due to the increased water levels and potential for flooding.
