Best Time To Visit Dehiwala Zoological Garden (Colombo) In 2026 - 2027

Visiting Dehiwathe la Zoological Garden in Colombo

The Dehiwala Zoological Garden, situated in the bustling city of Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a popular destination for families, tourists, and wildlife enthusiasts. The best time to visit the zoo is during the cooler months from December to March. During this period, the weather in Colombo is at its most pleasant, with lower humidity levels and relatively cooler temperatures, which typically range from 22°C to 31°C (72°F to 88°F). This comfortable climate allows visitors to explore the spacious zoo grounds and view the animals without the discomfort of the intense heat and high humidity that come with the monsoon seasons.

Furthermore, visiting in the early morning or late afternoon can enhance your experience, as the animals are often more active during these cooler parts of the day. If possible, try to avoid public holidays and weekends since the zoo can get quite crowded, which may affect your ability to leisurely view the exhibits and animals. Additionally, if you're interested in special events or programs such as animal feeding times or keeper talks, it's recommended to check the zoo's official schedule prior to your visit to make the most out of your trip to the Dehiwala Zoological Garden.
