Dilkusha Kothi, also known as the English House, is a historical building located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was constructed in the early 19th century by Major Gore Ouseley, a British resident and close friend of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan. Dilkusha Kothi is a part of the Dilkusha Gardens and was originally a hunting lodge and summer retreat for the Nawabs of Awadh. The architecture of the Kothi presents a unique blend of European and Indian styles, inspired in part by the English landscape. This picturesque ruin once comprised several buildings, extensive gardens, and a deer park. During the First War of Indian Independence in 1857, the Kothi was heavily damaged due to artillery fire and subsequently abandoned. Today, it's a popular tourist attraction, showcasing the history of Lucknow's Nawabi era and the impact of the British in the region. Visitors come to stroll through the lush gardens, enjoy the Kothi's tranquil surroundings, and imagine its past splendor.

Magnificent!
Dilkusha Kothi is in the cantonment area. Its entrance was wrongly pinned on Google Maps. It took me a couple of turns & finally asking a local before I could get to the gate. The gate too was chaine..

Ancient & historic
Some monuments stand as a piece of our history, with not much to do or see around. Dilkusha Kothi is one such abandoned place, but a nice picture spot for the avid traveller.
