Sikandar Bagh is a historical garden in the city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Named after the last Nawab of Oudh, Wajid Ali Shah's favorite queen, Sikandar Mahal, the garden was built in the style of the Mughal and British architecture that permeated the era. Spanning over 4.5 acres, it was originally established as a summer pavilion and a garden in 1800. The garden is enclosed by a high wall and houses a small villa and picturesque scenery. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, it was also the site of a significant battle between Indian freedom fighters and the British forces. Sikandar Bagh was severely damaged during the siege, leaving only the garden and the villa which have since been restored. Today, it is an important cultural and historical site, functioning as a public park where visitors can enjoy the greenery and remnants of its storied past. The National Botanical Research Institute also utilizes the space. The garden displays a fusion of floral beauty, history, and the resilience that defines Lucknow's rich past.
