Eravikulam National Park, located in the high ranges of the Western Ghats in the Idukki district of Kerala, India, is an expanse of rolling grasslands and shola forests. Covering an area of 97 square kilometers, the park is home to the largest viable population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Established in 1978 to protect the habitat of these mountain goats, Eravikulam has since become a significant ecological and recreational site. It is divided into three areas – the core area, the buffer area, and the tourism area, ensuring controlled human presence. The park also encompasses Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. Visitors are often enchanted by the blooming of Neelakurinji flowers, which occurs once every 12 years, blanketing the hills in vibrant blue. The park's Sheolas, streams, waterfalls, and lush flora and fauna present a breathtaking natural spectacle.
