Fort Aguada, a well-preserved 17th-century Portuguese fort, stands on the Sinquerim Beach in North Goa, India. Constructed in 1612 as a defense against Dutch and Marathas, it was the most prized and crucial fort of Portuguese. The fort is ringed by thick battlements and stands on Bardez peninsula, overlooking the confluence of the Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. The highlight of the fort is the lighthouse built in 1864, which once housed a gigantic bell transferred from the Church of St. Augustine in Old Goa. This colossal fortification with a water reservoir capable of storing around 2,300,000 gallons of water is one of the biggest in Asia and is a testament to Portuguese engineering. Aguada Fort also served as a reference point for vessels coming from Europe. The fort gets its name 'Aguada' from the Portuguese word for water ('água'), echoing the presence of the freshwater spring within. It covers a large area with a prison at its base, which was functional until recent times, contributing to its historical significance.

Must to visit
Good view of the entire Oceanside.... While it's a little busy one, this should be one of your best places to visit while you are in Goa.
