Best Time To Visit Gaumukh Reservoir (Chittorgarh) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Gaumukh Reservoir, Chittorgarh

The Gaumukh Reservoir, located in the historical city of Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, India, is an ancient water body nestled within the Chittorgarh Fort. The best time to visit the reservoir aligns with the ideal travel season for Chittorgarh itself, which is during the cooler months from October to March. During this time, the weather is pleasantly cool and comfortable for exploring outdoor attractions. Chittorgarh experiences a typically dry and hot climate for most of the year, with temperatures soaring during the summer months of April to June. However, the winter season provides a respite from the heat, with daytime temperatures averaging around 20-27°C (68-80°F), which is ideal for sightseeing.

Visitors planning their trip in November can witness the grand spectacle of the annual Chittorgarh Mela, which is held near the reservoir and fort. The festival offers cultural insights into the traditions of Rajasthan with various folk performances, arts, and crafts. Monsoon, from July to September, can be another potential time to visit as the region receives sparse rainfall, which rejuvenates the landscape, although outdoor activities might be slightly interrupted by occasional showers. Consequently, the shoulder months of September and February are also favorable as they offer the dual advantages of lesser crowds and the beginning or end of the peak tourist season's pleasant weather conditions.
